Irishman Pat Hickey has resigned from the Worldwide Olympic Committee (IOC) greater than six years after he suspended himself following his arrest through the 2016 Olympics in Rio.

The 77-year-old, an IOC member since 1995, voluntarily stood down from all his sports activities administration roles after being arrested on alleged ticket touting expenses through the Video games.

Hickey, who served as President of the Olympic Council of Eire from 1989 till he was formally changed in 2017, has resigned on medical grounds.

The information was revealed on the primary day of an IOC Govt Board assembly.

After being arrested by Brazilian police through the Video games, Hickey was launched on bail after the Affiliation of Nationwide Olympic Committees loaned him the cash to permit him to return to Eire in December 2016.
